Troupes coloniales[edit]

The Tirailleurs malgaches, along with their counterparts in Indochina, and in sub-saharan Africa, made up a considerable part of the Troupes coloniales. Their story should be told. They ought not be confused with the tirailleur units from North Africa, who were classified as the Armée d'Afrique Keith H99 (talk) 14:35, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tirailleurs Malgaches photo IWM Q 54199[edit]

I am wondering if this photo is French in origin, and whether it had a title of "Les Tirailleurs Malgaches font la marche en Orient, octobre 1917". Literally translated, it could give the impression that the photo was taken in the orient, hence why it is described as Mesopotamia.

The scenery and architecture looks more like the pictures I have seen of Salonika, and I think it more likely these men were from one of the three rear echelon battalions with the Armee d'Orient Keith H99 (talk) 18:38, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
