Dates still missing[edit]

The following areas still need to be added:

Election and succession of new Secretary-Generals.
Departures and suspensions from the Commonwealth.
Resolution of the Rhodesian and South African issues.
Indo-Pakistani conflicts.
Commonwealth military actions (e.g. in Korea, Malaya, Kenya).

Or, at least, those are the ones that I'm aware still need to be added. Bastin 15:06, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I now consider the following missing:

Commonwealth military actions (e.g. in Korea, Malaya, Kenya).
Suspensions from the Commonwealth.
Graduation of special members to full membership (and vice versa in more recent times).

Maldives and the Commonwealth.[edit]

The Maldives are in the process of returning to its membership of the Commonwealth, as a new President of the Maldives was elected in 2018, who has recommended that the Maldives returns to its status as a Commonwealth republic, which was the case between 1982 and 2016. - (101.98.104.241 (talk) 08:27, 27 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

The Commonwealth and the British Empire[edit]

I was trying to make things more clearer by adding the names of the monarchs as title headings. The reason is rather simple. The Commonwealth of Nations evolved from and was a successor to, the British Empire, and the British monarch was the de jure head of state for all Commonwealth countries. The five independent "dominions" demanded and got, recognition as independent during the Versailles conference of 1918-19, and the term "commonwealth" was designed as a designation for these countries. So yes, George V and Edward VIII were indeed heads of the Commonwealth. Notwisconsin (talk) 15:31, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
