Sections[edit]

We reach March tomorrow, and as there's now very little COVID news each day (and England at least have lifted their emergency powers) it seems sensible to start creating sections for months rather than for individual days, as is the case with the timelines for the UK's constituent countries. I did this for the UK timeline dealing with the pandemic's beginning in 2020 until we got to the stage where several news stories were being reported on a daily basis and a monthly section would be too long and cumbersome to edit. Could you indicate the paragraph from which you've quoted the statement "He did not give a reason for his departure". I'm using Chrome and just did a copy/paste of your text from your summary into find and it comes up with 0/0 results for "He did not give a reason for his departure". So consequently the article does not "slearly say" that. This is Paul (talk) 19:24, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is Paul, in the second sentence it says "Lord Geidt did not give a reason for his departure, but in a statement he said it was the "right thing" to do". -- DeFacto (talk). 19:42, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

And then I refreshed the page and the quote appeared, but as you rightly say, the text actually reads "Lord Geidt did not give a reason for his departure" which is why it also didn't seem to be coming up in a general Google search. Accurate quotes are always useful. Anyway, drama over now, and probably right to wait to see if he gives a reason. He may choose not to. This is Paul (talk) 19:43, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@This is Paul, worried about how this had happened, I had another look at it this morning, and found this snapshot of the BBC article, and indeed it did contain the verbatim statement "He did not give a reason for his departure" (still in the second sentence). The BBC must have edited teir page after I quoted from it and before you double-checked it! -- DeFacto (talk). 06:34, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This must have been as they were creating/updating the story. Thinking about it I've noticed before the BBC make changes to their articles, and sometimes quotes change or disappear in favour of presumably better ones. This is Paul (talk) 15:59, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
