Equation of Heaven with a person[edit]

someone please add that Tian has no character. Tian, unlike greek gods, has no particular image similar to human, doesnt talk to emperors nor people. Its just standing above the entire world and watch people and emperor from the above. (though he punish emperors) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Guicho w (talkcontribs) 15:32, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I know, just saw it. Obviously some religion is pushing this fairly absurd POV/personification. Corrected it. 72.228.177.92 (talk) 03:56, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's neither absurd nor unwarranted. China's a big place and has been around a long time. Tian's been personified repeatedly. — LlywelynII 13:56, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
"天(Tian)" is mostly an abstract concept in Chinese culture, representing high-level power or rules, and sometimes represents the place where God is located(like Heaven), and sometimes it also represents 天帝(Tian Di, god). 23.158.104.227 (talk) 14:04, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fwiw, this edit established the page's use as BCE/CE, so please do try to keep it consistent. — LlywelynII 13:56, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious Chinese references[edit]

This article presently cites almost two dozen Chinese-language websites, none of which meet WP:NONENG standards. Wikipedia needs reliable English references for topics likejiutian "nine sky divisions". Pending discussion, I'll delete these references and tag for citations needed. Keahapana (talk) 21:42, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted them because Google finds many suitable English sources. WP:NONENG says, "Because this is the English Wikipedia, English-language sources are preferred over non-English ones, assuming English sources of equal quality and relevance are available."
