Thrust 2 world record for standing start 1 kilometer is incorrect[edit]

The Blue Flame set the standing start world land speed records for 1 mile (622.407 mi/h) and 1 kilometer (630.388 mi/h) on October 23, 1970. The FIA requirement to set a new standing start world land speed record is to exceed the existing record by 1%. Thrust 2 succeeded in exceeding The Blue Flame's 1 mile record by more than 1% (greater than 628.631). However, although Thrust 2's speed for the 1 kilometer standing start did exceed The Blue Flame's record, it did not exceed it by 1% (636.692 mi/h), and therefore the Thrust 2 kilometer speed was NOT a new world record. Batmobile?[edit]

Is Thrust2 the inspiration for the Batmobile used in 1989 Tim Burton movie? I faintly remember one documentary cited that the one designed by Anton Furst was "inspired by Corvettes and Salt Flat record vehicles". Of course it could also be inspired by the Green Monster, but in the 1980s - around the time the movie was made - Thrust2 was the fastest land vehicle in the world.
