Parliamentary Career[edit]

The following 'He served as Minister for Trade and Customs in Joseph Lyons' United Australia Party government from 1933 to 1938, but resigned when he was excluded from Lyons' inner cabinet. He joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) shortly after the outbreak of the Second World War and saw service in Australia and the United Kingdom. Returning to parliament as a member of the newly formed Liberal Party in 1945 ...' may wrongly give the impression that he resigned his parliamentary seat in 1938 and returned to parliament in 1945. Perhaps something alsong these lines. 'He served as Minister for Trade and Customs in Joseph Lyons' United Australia Party government from 1933 to 1938 when he resigned as a minister having been excluded from Lyons' inner cabinet. He took leave from parliament after the outbreak of the Second World War and saw service with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in Australia and the United Kingdom. Resuming parliamentary duties shortly before the United Australia Party was folded into the newly formed Liberal Party in 1945, ... Anthony Staunton (talk) 09:05, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
