Issues with this article[edit]

The book seems to reconcile with other publications about Communist China, whose authors are not related. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.193.50.2 (talk)

Not at all. It lays far more blame on Chairman Mao than most other texts about Communist China, whether written by Chinese or Western authors. There is thus huge controversy surrounding whether Li Zhisui was in fact Chairman Mao's doctor for 22 years as he claimed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.47.172.17 (talk)

This article is of a very poor quality and includes unnecessary details of the book without context (such as the railroad-side rice patties, which were in fact organised by the provincial governor of Hubei province without Mao's knowledge). This article should be rewritten. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.233.210.82 (talk)

"was banned in the People's Republic of China.", so is it not banned anymore? Tuncrypt 18:00, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism of Li's book[edit]

Hello there. Looking at this article, I think that it could certainly do with containing some of the critical points that various figures, including Lin Ke, Mobo Gao etc, have highlighted. After all, there is some pretty heavy criticism both against Li Zhisui's claims and the English translation of the work. Considering this article is still start class, and desperately needs to be fleshed out with referenced information, I believe that introducing such criticism can do no harm, and I am more than happy to do this myself. Knowing how image-conscious, media-controlling, and oligarchical Chinese government is, it is not surprising that they would round up 150 characters to sign a screed criticizing Dr. Li's uncomplimentary portrait of the Chairman. The biggest thing that would help is linking to exact pages on Google Books if possible so people can read the original pages for themselves. WhisperToMe (talk) 15:53, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
