Re-purposing this article[edit]

When people speak of The Emancipator, they typically mean the New York-based paper from the 1830s, and not the Tennessee-based paper that was briefly called by that name back in the early 1820s. The confusion between those two papers shows up in the article here, because Theodore Weld was an editor of the New York paper, not the Tennessee one.

I propose to re-write this article to be about the New York paper. If this is acceptable, I'll add a hatnote pointing the reader to the article on the Genius of Universal Emancipation. I'll also check the incoming links to be ensure that the ones intended for the Tennessee paper get re-targeted.
