response[edit]

Yep, I sure did. I added a staff member missing from the staff box and I took out a nonsensical reference to "Weird Al" Yankovic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kphipps3000 (talkcontribs) 18:58, 22 June 2007

Wil Wheaton[edit]

I haven't seen a "Games of our Lives" column from Wil in months, if not an entire year. At one point does he become a "former contributor?" --Do Not Talk About Feitclub (contributions) 13:30, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why the title?[edit]

I'm guessing that "A.V. Club" is a well-known American expression, but I'm British and don't recognize it at all. Could someone explain, please? 86.158.191.109 (talk) 00:34, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That is explained on their FAQ page. Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook 16:45, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edits "on behalf of" my employer[edit]

I just noticed this talk page commit:

Connecting wiki editor Tom Tobin to edits made on this article on behalf of his current employer, Onion, Inc.

I don't know whether it would be properly considered "on behalf of"; I haven't been directed to watch the page, but I have made edits to correct blatantly incorrect and/or out-of-date facts. It looks like this is acceptable as per WP:AUTO#IFEXIST, but I should have noted it here. By all means, review my changes. - Korpios (talk) 03:19, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

-- above edit actually performed by Tom X. Tobin (talk) 03:19, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Responding to this quite old edit... It's bad form to edit as one editor, and sign as another. But anyways, edits done by someone with an "interest in" (employed by, friends with, financially connected to) the subject of an article are covered by the WP:Conflict of interest guideline. Uncontroversial corrections of falsehoods or libel are no problem, and are welcome. But don't add material, and don't remove material which is legitimately arguable - instead, make suggestions here in Talk, and other editors will happily review and very likely implement them. WP:COI#Declaring an interest invites explicitly declaring your connection to the article subject. This is a gesture of good faith, which is appreciated. --Lexein (talk) 01:31, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The A.V. ClubA.V. Club – Per WP:THE, the logo says "A.V. Club". Do we must count on non-primary sources that either include or omit "The"? If so, why else besides WP:COMMONNAME? Well, just in case: Search results from Google. --George Ho (talk) 06:19, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Gently oppose I wouldn't think the logo is the controlling document. Every page at avclub.com has this literal title tag at the top of the page:
<title> The A.V. Club </title>
Every page also includes "The A.V. Club" in the prose - "BACK TO THE A.V. CLUB HOME" and "MORE FROM THE A.V. CLUB".
Also: The New York Times. --Lexein (talk) 08:03, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
To answer whether we must rely on non-primary sources, please observe the carnage at Talk:Norm Macdonald, and how it was finally resolved. Some people don't control their brand very well at all. --Lexein (talk) 07:19, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

SPAM[edit]

Please, A. V. members, remove all spam you inserted in THOUSANDS of articles! I'm not interested in what Zack Handlen have to say about my favorite TV series. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.98.7.23 (talk) 03:11, 22 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The A.V. Club is a well-known critical forum, with a large audience, and is frequently cited across the internet and in print media. As far as pop culture sites on the internet go, if it is not significant enough that quoting from it in a Wikipedia article meets Wikipedia's standards, what site is significant enough? History possible revision[edit]

Not sure how necessary the whole bit about the history of The A.V. Club's domain name is, but I left it after my copy edits. HRouillier (talk) 06:44, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New all-video format?[edit]

It seems the site has converted to a new format, where instead of featuring written articles, most (or all?) of the new content, consists of video segments. If this is correct (and it sure seems to be), then it seems like this fact should be noted in the article. Does anyone know for certain that such a change has occurred?

Kanye and Star of David[edit]

I don’t know if Ye was trying to be offensive with the image of Star of David and superimposed swasttika. If he was then he actually was doing the opposite.

Asian culture have used the swastika shape image for thoustof years meaning love. The lines of that image are horizontal and vertical.

The symbol of hate that is associated with Nazism has the shape with lines running diagonal. Most people don’t recognize the difference. 75.174.212.98 (talk) 15:27, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
