I'm seeing three different ages, which are 80, 83, and 84.

- Sorted now. I've gone with the Times obituary, although I notice one or two Beatles biographies give 1936 as his year of birth. The problem came about because this article was not ready to come out of Draft space back in June 2018; I think some news outlets looked at this "article", as it was a week or so ago, and copied what appeared here. The mention of Terry Doran managing Dark Horse Records was wrong (my mistake in 2018 when starting the piece as a Draft, and while planning to search out sources and more info) – and that detail has found its way into some TD tributes also, I notice.
