CKS[edit]

Shouldn't the name be changed since the name of the airport was changed from CKS to Taiwan Taoyuan?--Jerrypp772000 01:20, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The name didn't change, at least on official documents and contracts, because it cost too much to change/re-sign the contracts. So, at least on paper, it is still "CKS Airport Access MRT System". --Will74205 16:44, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System" should become the common name when the line opens, but most Taiwanese media shorten the name to "Taoyuan Airport Rapid Transit". I am not sure if it is worth to include the former/contract name in the article. But I do think the current title is a little long. --Will74205 19:47, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Taiwan Railway Administration[edit]

Chinese Wikipedia says this line will operated by Taiwan Railway Administration, and has some exterial sources as proof. Also this line edited in TRA lines in Chinese WP templates: Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System in Chinese will be bolded

Name[edit]

All the sources I've seen (including official ones) never expand MRT out to "Mass Rapid Transit" (see [1]. In fact, a Google search of the current name ("Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access Mass Rapid Transit System") only yields one result. Shouldn't the article name be changed to reflect what's being used (e.g. "Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System"?). -Multivariable (talk) 23:09, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The expanded form may be clearer for some readers, but the expanded form has never even been used (i.e. we can't say definitively if MRT is supposed to be "Mass Rapid Transit" [2]). It can't be assumed because in the past, the Taipei Metro (Taipei MRT) has expanded MRT as both "Metropolitan Rapid Transit" [3] and "Mass Rapid Transit" [4]. Plus, to me, a nine-word article title would seem to be more unwieldy than using an abbreviation like MRT. -Multivariable (talk) 07:15, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I guess my point is, the original "MRT" abbreviation in the article name should have been kept (until it was recently moved to the current name) because MRT does not necessarily mean "Mass Rapid Transit", as the current naming implies. It's stated nowhere in any official documents, had no Google search results until the renaming of this page, and as far as we know, it might not even stand for anything (in this case). According to WP:UCN, the more common name should be used, even if there is a "more elaborate [or] formal... alternative". Also (and I know this isn't a valid criteria for page naming), articles for other systems keep the "MRT" abbreviation for systems, lines, and stations (e.g. MRT (Bangkok), Circle MRT Line, HarbourFront MRT Station), indicating that it's probably a common enough term to keep as an abbreviation.   • That still doesn't address my main concern that the "MRT" to "Mass Rapid Transit" expansion has never been documented or used with this system; "MRT" is just part of the official name (WP:PRECISION). Leaving the page as is would be a disservice to readers because the current naming is based on nonexistent sources, making it neither a common name (WP:UCN) nor an official name, or even an accurate name. Move some parts to 'Blue Line (Taoyuan MRT)' ?[edit]

Some parts (like the list of Blue Line stations) of the article deal with the Blue Line (Taoyuan MRT), which is currently pretty empty. What about moving these parts ? Sovxx (talk) 10:38, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

massive cleanup needed - also reorganization[edit]

Based on edit history, much of this article was written when the project was being proposed, then following completion, the only thing that was changed was the tense. Citations have not been updated, so all that's served to do is make everything unverified. Additionally, many of the sources (approximately 80% on a quick perusal) are now dead links. Based on WP:V most of this article probably should be deleted immediately. In the interests of preserving presumably correct (although potentially outdated) information and WP:AGF, I'll work through the article and attempt to save relevant information. I'd also suggest the article be significantly reorganized to remove redundant information/sections (e.g., there are currently two sections on construction, there's both a list timeline and history in-line, etc.) and will do so if no objection. --SesameballTalk 17:17, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
