It only said that it died from a fatal fall, when it should say "euthanized after fall". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.180.180.172 (talk) 17:26, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

It says here the horse had to be euthanised. Advances in vet practise mean that horses can survive injuries like broken legs but it costs too much money so they are killed instead. Its a choice the owner makes based on economics82.42.126.68 (talk) 10:22, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WRONG: the decision is taken by a veterinary surgeon, not the owner or trainer. See this [1]. At least this is the case in British National Hunt racing.  Tigerboy1966  16:53, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It depends how bad the break is. Horses can suffer very badly from attempts to fix broken legs, leading to laminitis and other problems. It is still often more humane to euthanise. Also, I suspect the owner may not have been consulted before the vet made his decision. Bretonbanquet (talk) 10:31, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
