Sabotage was immediately suspected here because of the anger caused in Arab countries by the sentencing the previous December of three Palestinians to 12 years imprisonment by a Swiss court.
I'm afraid that wording is problematic. Saying that terrorism was suspected "because of anger caused in Arab countries" erroneously assumes that the normal reaction to hearing about a legal ruling you disagree with is to destroy an aircraft and murder innocent people. The claim that "A bomb was put on the plane and detonated by the Palestinian terror group PFLP-GC." is not accurate, as it implies this plane was specifically targeted and PFLP-GC was involved with loading the plane. Since the bomb was an airmail package that was carried on the flight and triggered by an altitude sensitive detonator, all that the bomb-makers needed to do was mail the package. The postal authorities unwittingly allowed the bomb to be put on the plane as part of a mail consignment. The reduction in air pressure as the plane ascended caused the bomb to detonate. The Palestinian terrorist group then "claimed" responsibility, but they didn't detonate the bomb, the altitude did, nor did they put the bomb on the plane, the postal system allowed that to happen. After mailing the bomb package, the bomb-makers lost all control over what happened to their bomb. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 04:32, 15 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
