Rewrite[edit]

I rewrote the "song meaning" section, to add more from the song. I tried hard to simply explicate what the song itself says, using the actual lyrics. The part about the chorus being ironic because Superman wasn't, in fact, a "man" at all could be considered OR, but I don't think it's a stretch from the apparent meaning of the lyric. However, I have avoided any discussion of what the song actually means, in terms of any sort of political commentary or whatever because, a) it's not at all clear to me *what* this song is actually "about", and b) I don't have any sources for that anyways. Your efforts were laudable but the OR keeps sneaking back in and expanding. I decided to just remove the whole thing because nothing, absolutely nothing, in the entire section was based on a source. Other songs on Wikipedia don't have "Song meaning" sections, i.e., analysis, interpretation, etc., unless there are sources backing them up. This should be no exception. Death of Superman comic arc[edit]

In December 1992, DC comics (temporarily) killed off Superman and it became a huge media event. MuchMusic announced the death of the character by playing this song. (Original research, or I remember watching it live all those years ago.) Nutster (talk) 09:58, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
