A Stenter, sometimes called a Tenter is an specialist oven used in fabric processing for drying and heat treating fabric after wet processing.

It consists of heated chambers, addjustable to the width of the fabric being treated. Fabric is fed into the heated chamber supported at either selvedge by a series of stenter pins or clamps which support the fabric as it is moved through the drying chambers. (Note: Stenter pins are the modern equivalent of tenterhooks)

The input and output speed of the fabric is closely controlled, as is the output width, determining the moisture content of the fabric after drying, and the dimensional stability.

It is, however, a bit more complicated than that!!

Please explain what is difficult to read, poorly written, and misleading for the readers in the first sentence. I hope that this will answer my initial question, "why is it better?" as well. Hello UDEV. I'm sorry, but your use of english is so bad that I cannot follow your meaning here. What has my mum got to do with stenters? For the record, Your post at the Ref desk was removed because you improperly copied posts that I had made elsewhere, including my sig and timestamps, which made it look as if I had been posting there. This is unnacceptable behaviour.
