SRT commuter lines[edit]

There's an embryonic article called SRT Lines which seems to be about the planned SRT Red Line (Bangsue-Rangsit). There has to be a better name for that... but what? Jpatokal (talk) 11:33, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article's now at SRT Red Lines. We may have to wait for an more substantial development before an official name arises. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:26, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's still largely incomplete, but there's an issue which I think needs to be addressed first: appropriateness of the layout.

The diagram's currently laid out in a somewhat north-south orientation. However, it might be more proper to place Bangkok Station at the top, and follow an actual route diagram layout, listing each destination in descending order. --Paul_012 (talk) 23:24, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Made it a normal route diagram with Bangkok Station on top. See Template:Thai State Railway RDT. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:26, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've replaced this with one I made myself, incorporating parts of the diagram: Template:State Railway of Thailand RDT, however, as I am not an autoconfirmed user I cannot use Twinkle to nominate the redundant template for deletion, can someone else do this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jr8825 (talkcontribs) 14:16, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That shouldn't be necessary. The layouts are different so they aren't really redundant; both could possibly find different uses. Template:State Railway of Thailand RDT currently has several errors, though. The two branches of the Northeastern Line are switched, the Sawankhalok branch is upside down, there isn't a Cha-Am branch and I think the junction stations should be shown. --Paul_012 (talk) 23:19, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback! I've made the following corrections to the Template:State Railway of Thailand RDT:
The two branches of the Northeastern Line are switched.  Fixed
There isn't a Cha-Am branch.  Fixed
The Sawankhalok branch is upside down.  Fixed
The junction stations should be shown.  Doing...
I'm looking into the junction stations today because it'll probably take quite a bit of effort to fix, I'll hopefully get it done soon. As for the other template, should it be put back in the article, perhaps under a name such as 'State Railway of Thailand main lines' - rather than the current name 'Thai State Railway route map'? Thanks, Jr8825 (talk) 09:58, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I myself am not familiar with railway articles in general, so I can't really say which diagram layout would be best to illustrate which part of the article. Right now, we do have much more diagram than article text, though, so it would probably be appropriate to expand the text and perhaps split to articles about each line first. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:00, 14 March 2013‎ (UTC)[reply]

As the SRT is the sole operator of rail services in Thailand (apart from Bangkok's rapid transit systems), much of both articles seem redundant with each other.

I think that route information at least should be consolidated in this article, as it would be proper to discuss different systems separately. Rail transport in Thailand should provide an overview of the subject, including cultural and historical aspects. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:26, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly support the merging. The overlapping of the two articles is confusing for the reader and unnecessary work for authors. Willi2006 (talk) 12:38, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As nothing has happened in regards to this merge proposal in the subsequent years, I've removed the merge tag. I suggest future editors re-propose a merger instead of reverting the closure of the old one. This will allow for any real world changes that may have happened in the meantime. Proposed Merger[edit]

I believe we should merge financial performance and issues together. They have similar content and it is an issue? Yea or Nay? Lord David, Duke of Glencoe (talk) 01:22, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Western line?[edit]

Hi all, would like to check whether the Nam Tok / Suphan Buri line sections (currently grouped under Southern line) are officially listed under the Western line (as per link here)? Some of the articles on the Thai Wikipedia also seem to agree (I don't understand Thai myself; read it through a translation tool). If so then it would require a rewrite to some of the articles. NoNews! 01:11, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No; they are officially considered branches of the Southern Line. (Those Thai Wikipedia articles would appear to be in error.) --Paul_012 (talk) 21:52, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
