A friend once referenced a scene in this movie where the old lady (whose name I cannot remember,) set the connecting tube ablaze by lighting a cigarette while halfway through and not as described here (or seen in the VHS copy of the film, titled Starflight One.) I rather doubt it. The way the people were tumbling head over heels in that tunnel, I doubt she would have taken the time to have a cigarette. I'm actually surprised they let people through with their shoes on. GBC (talk) 10:39, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The old lady was played by Jocelyn Brando, the older sister of Marlon Brando who died in 2005. The movie can be found here (reversed) STARFLIGHT ONE THE PLANE THAT COULDN'T LAND

And also on Amazon Prime. The film has been called STARFLIGHT: THE PLANE THAT COULDN'T LAND STARFLIGHT ONE. AIRPORT 1985 and STARFLIGHT ONE: THE PLANE THAT COULDN'T LAND.

Notable for co-starring Ray Milland who first started making movies in 1928 when he played a theater patron that year's production of MOULIN ROUGE starring Olga Tschechowa as Parysia.

citation needed overuse thereof[edit]

How do you cite NASA using one tank over another without pictures? ANYONE over 30 who ever watched shuttle launches might have noticed, or might not.

The other "citation needed" can only be answered by WATCHING THE FILM itself. How do you cite that? Have someone illegally copy that part of the movie onto YouTube and link to it? Violation of Copyright, non? Oui.

wikipolice are a little overzealous in the "citation needed" dept. and use it the way Pee Wee Herman used "I know you are, but what am I?" or the way little kids use "Are we there yet?" or "Why?" SFX[edit]

If this movie had enough of a following to be remastered (probably not), they could replace or repair some of the scenes:

  • Columbia being launched with unpainted booster tanks
  • The XU-5 being shown in motion and Starflight staying still during the line-up for reentry
  • The astronaut emerging from the payload bay with the refueling line
  • The Columbia landing on a concrete runway with the Thornwall facilities in the background
  • Freddie's satellite being launched on a more modern rocket than an Apollo assembly
  • The debris coming straight at Starflight rather than at a right angle
  • Pete and the airlock tunnel not disappearing into utter black (unless they're just about to go into sunset along their orbit)

Wrong title?[edit]

I can't find a poster or article confiming the title "Starflight: The Plane That Couldn't Land"- only "Starflight One". --87.79.97.69 (talk) 10:34, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
