March 2007[edit]

Hello all, and thank you for contributing to this school site. I'm part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Schools/Assessment team, and, as it has recently been editted, then I'm reviewing this page. I'm currently giving it a grade of stub on the Wikipedia 1.0 Assessment Scale and an importance of High on this importance scale.

My reasoning is as follows: This article is small at the moment. But this school is one of the oldest in the UK

Who else was a famouse old Peterite?

History[edit]

What has happened to the school throughout history?

...exactly, I was in "Rise" when it was a boys house... still got me black n white socks and "surgamus" sweater! ...and when we had to endure the first girls coming in in St Olaves... 4 to a class... and all the "sucking up" that ensued... it did rather ruin things to be honest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.114.86.166 (talkcontribs) 19:38, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

St. or St[edit]

I'm concerned at the removal of the dot after St from the title. Although in banners and things this is standard it is not consiered good English and if you look at the school's website whilst the banner title has no dot the page title does. I think it should be returned to the page to keep with standard practise. 86.133.65.99 19:48, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All the usage I see in the website is without a full-stop, both in titles and body text - not too sure where you're looking. It's now fairly standard British usage not to use a full-stop in St, see the various examples in the Guardian style-guide [1][2]
By the way, I can spell, just not type. David Underdown 08:16, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"St." is incorrect, as St is a contraction, not an abbreviation. For example, when shortening "company", "Co." and "Coy" are both correct – "Co" and "Coy." are not. It's "Mr", not "Mr.", because Mister ends with an "r"; but "Inc.", not "Inc", as the end is chopped off. JonCTalk 09:31, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Information[edit]

I am very interested in this subject and here there is a new book about it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.14.67 (talk) 21:24, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Integral music[edit]

"Music is an integral part of life at St. Peter's."

Does this sentence actually *mean* anything in an objective sense? Or is it just the sort of bland platitude that crops up in many an independent school prospectus? Matthau (talk) 13:39, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Headmasters[edit]

"????-1995 Robin Pittman" He was definitely head in 1989, his nickname was prickman: he wasn't popular. Here's a bit evidence: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/A2A/records.aspx?cat=192-acc494&cid=-1&Gsm=2008-06-18#-1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.113.61.210 (talk) 15:44, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I have suggested that Clifton Pre-preparatory School should be merged to here s it lacks notability on its own. Any comments appreciated. CalzGuy (talk) 07:03, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have done the same to St Olave's School, York. CalzGuy (talk) 18:19, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - St Olave's is notable on its own as a Google search shows. The two schools are both physically and logically separate. Many primary/infant/junior schools have their own articles. Lineslarge (talk) 05:34, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Clifton Pre-preparatory School on the grounds of independent notability by winning a national prize: "The winner of pre-prep/ prep school of the year is: Clifton School and Nursery". TES. 8 February 2018. Retrieved 26 July 2018. Klbrain (talk) 10:46, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
