Is there a specific name for his hairstyle shown in the picture? --Smoothtofu 19:55, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Which picture specifically? I'd say the 2005 interview picture looks like he has a mullet.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 21:32, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mullet? Looks more like a skateboarder style haircut. --CobraBK 23:12, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Age[edit]

The given birthday can not be correct. Nevermind came out on September 24, 1991 when this kid would have been a mere ten weeks, much younger than the child depicted. An April or March birthday is be more likely, so he would have been circa 4 months in July or August, when the album artwork would have been in the final stages of production and printing. It wasn't right -- whoever copied it off the California birth index wrote it down wrong. It's February 7. (Run a search at http://www.sfgenealogy.com.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.207.119.122 (talk) 18:51, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I contacted Mr. Elden directly and have made the correction. Brady Blair (talk) 23:48, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

and Spencer deserves a Wikipedia article because . . .?[edit]

So Spencer Elden rates a Wikipedia article but Allison Stokke doesn't? I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to figure it out.

I guess I just don't understand the Internets.

Internets? You mean there's more than one?

Well, he deserves a mention because the album cover is truly iconic in every sense of the word. In the future, people may want to know more about the baby pictured and see if he went on to do anything else (in showbusiness) etc... even if he actually just goes on to lead a normal life. Jaydash 01:36, 28 October 2007.

Who is Allison Stokke? BigGem (talk) 20:33, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand Internet either. Allison Stokke has an article in Finnish Wikipedia and she has nothing to do with Finland. Spencer Elden doesn't have. 91.153.125.105 (talk) 12:45, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How is allison stokke relevant to this post? please direct your comments elsewhere Brady Blair (talk) 23:40, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Headline text[edit]

It says on the page that he was born June 27, 1990. This is impossible, as he would have been a year and a few weeks old in the picture if this were true. Based on several different websites available by googling this young man you will find that his actually birthday is July 9, 1991; making it much clearer how it is that he is only a few months old in this picture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.87.139.105 (talk) 03:53, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FAN[edit]

Is he a fan or not? That's important to know. Earlier versions of this article seem to disagree. 68.230.18.173 (talk) 09:36, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The fifth redirect article says that he is a fan. 83.148.246.254 (talk) 11:52, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect[edit]

I reverted the re-direct of this article to discuss whether it's notable enough to stand alone. In favor of notability, I see at least three reliable sources talking about the guy -- including CNN -- and they seem to go beyond the album cover and talk about his later career. (In other words, there's information out there about the guy other than "he was the baby on the album cover.") To me, that's probably enough -- if CNN is talking about him and most Americans have seen a picture of him...ok. Sure, on the other hand he's a footnote to history -- he's definitely marginalia to our culture. But the beauty of an online encyclopedia is that we can include all the footnotes, and all the marginalia. I don't feel strongly about it (though I do feel strongly that an article this old should receive discussion before disappearing), but I lean towards a standalone article. Irrelevant[edit]

How does someone who is a student in college rate an article just for being n an album cover as a baby, no matter how iconic that cover? I have achieved much more as a US Navy officer and a teacher since college than this guy and I don't seem to warrant an article. Wikipedia continues to keep me convinced that it is not a viable source to be taken seriously, and I will continue to disallow it as a source for my students' research because of things like this useless article and the many glaring errors on major topics that abound. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.132.58.24 (talk) 07:17, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

So this is an encyclopedia - not a listing of people who have achieved success in meritorious fields. What about you makes you notable? If you were on the front page of the New York Times, what would the article say? If it's "random teacher hates encyclopedias," well...that's no basis for you to have an article. Sorry. Of course, if you want to get ticked about that and disallow use of encyclopedias...well, ok. But your complaint - "this encyclopedia includes too much information, but nothing about me" - isn't a good one. TheOtherBob 14:50, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@TheOtherBob: Looking at the edit history here and the corresponding discussion on the Nevermind Talk page, it seems a consensus was reached back in 2011 to redirect to Nevermind ... but then some editor later removed that redirection and recreated a new standalone biography without this being discussed on the Nevermind page. I suppose now is as good a time as any to hold another vote on the subject. I shall add the merger proposal tags accordingly.--Muzilon (talk) 09:22, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merged to Nevermind, October 2017[edit]

As no objection has been raised after 30 days I have merged two or three relevant sentences from this article into the Nevermind article. Elden has appeared on two album covers (one famous, one not), so doesn't really meet notability under WP:NMODEL. His adult career as an artist has attracted media attention only in the context of "Where Are They Now?" articles focussing on his role as "The Nirvana Baby", so doesn't meet WP:CREATIVE either. I think a good comparison would be Mariora Goschen, the young girl who (in)famously appeared topless on the cover of the Blind Faith album. She too has occasionally been interviewed in the media over the years, but is not independently notable.--Muzilon (talk) 08:10, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
