Untitled[edit]

I wanted to improve it, but I couldn't find much. I did find a fair amount on Polish jazz. Maybe that article should be made first and then we can bring this back.--T. Anthony 15:54, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a comment about last administrator desicions. In my opinion the first edition of this article (maybe 'article in construction') was not refering non relevant people. It's extrange but sure that the administration in this case is made by somebody who doesn't know who are who in spanish jazz. Please, if you suspect any bad practice, first try to confirm seriously the information. The majority of musicians included considered non relevant by the administrator are the spanish jazz protagonists now. You can check it reading the catalogue of label records like Freshsound, Satchmo Records, New Mood Jazz, Nuevos Medios... or just looking at the concerts agenda of Jamboree, Café Central, La Bilbaína, Bel-luna, JazzSí, Calle54, and others jazz club in Spain.

And be sure that today, spanish jazz and flamenco are together in 0,1% of bands. In Buenos Aires musicians are not playing Piazzola all the time. In the same way the majority of NY jazz musicians are not playing Broadway hits all the time.

Maybe it is true that it wasn't 100% an article, but if somebody wants to know the state of the art in spanish jazz be sure that the information was really useful.

I returned several names, but not all as I have to confirm the notability of a few. Also the way the names were listed before I edited was non-standard and difficult to read. A new text about spanish jazz history soon[edit]

Hello T. Anthony.

I'm the one who initiated this page and you was completely right when you said that it was not an article. Thanks for helping us improving it.

Next week I will have the first shot of an article writen by a catalan jazz specialist named Andreu Fabregas who run every week since 7 years a jazz program on the radio. I just hope you will not eliminate this page before!

Do you mind if we change/actualize your list of spanish musicians?

I made some radical changes to save it from the proposed delete. My alterations of the list was largely because in its earlier form it contained many names I couldn't verify. I have absolutely no problem with separating it out by instrument or bringing back some of the old names, if verified. My only problem with it before was it was difficult to read and the unverified names. Well that and I was just trying to save this.--T. Anthony 22:12, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: Recent years, and other matters[edit]

Don't know much about Sp. jazz or jazz in Spain, so unfortunately can't be of much practical help to this article - I came here more in the hope of learning something. However two things strike me:

Did the above-mentioned sub-section ever exist and subsequently been (unintentionally) deleted or has the Level 2 headline been included in the hope that someone will fill in the blank?

Not too happy about including a never-ending list of musicians on the article page, however well it/they may be linked to external sources, etc. The most outstanding figures in Spanish jazz should obviously be included in a body of text, and other (minor) figures maybe included on a separate list (alphabetically, by instrument, chronological recordings, or whatever) with a link. Paloma Berganza isn't a jazz singer, I erased her from the list!!!!!

Excuse me, but Paloma Berganza is a jazz singer, not to be confused with her aunt Teresa Berganza. You can also actually read her entry. She has been nominated for best jazz album in the Spanish music prizes. I hope it is ok if I put her back in the list --Iemeve 19:12, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
