What's with the 'Taco Belll' reference? I understand the need to present a balanced point of view, but how many people really feel that way about Spanish Mission style architecture? I know that the modern interpretaton of this style is bland and ubiquitous, but classical mission style is timeless and can have an incredible amount of character. Perhaps this article could differentiate between the various interpretations of this style. - Greg G.

I've revised the text to refer to the indiscriminate application of this design style, which is quite common (as is the "Taco Bell" sentiment) in Southern California, at least.--Lordkinbote 07:39, May 15, 2005 (UTC)

I'm not familiar with the terminology, but is Spanish Colonial really a 20th century United States movement? I have always heard Spanish Colonial applied to much earlier constructions in places like Cartagena, Colombia, and I don't think it's a purely United States phenomenon. The page, as it stands now, would better be titled "Spanish Colonial REVIVAL Architecture." Philthecow 20:08, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

Perhaps the 1915 the San Diego Panama-California Exposition shouldn't be given so much credit for spreading the popularity of this style in California. e.g. By 1912, Even rural central California schools and railroad depots were commonly built in this style. But it could be that this 1915 SD exposition helped to spread the Spanish Colonial style nationwide. IOW This style appears to have already been popular in California before 1915. — Preceding unsigned comment added by C sloth (talkcontribs) 01:32, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is one of those "could go either way" subjects, but your arguument makes sense and the suggested name change makes for better consistency among related articles, therefore the article has now been moved.--Lordkinbote 07:08, July 12, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the move; I'll see what I can do about writing an actual Spanish Colonial architecture article sometime soon. Philthecow 13:55, July 15, 2005 (UTC)

"See also" section[edit]

The "See also" section links to several categories. For the general reader this is distracting and cluttered. For those digging deeper, like researchers, I would think either including the list in the category section or linking to relevant articles that provide additional categories would be sufficient.
