What has ...who is also a member of the Conservative party ... to do with an article on a school? Surely there must be more things to say about the curriculum, the site, its history etc etc. In addition the present article is very one-sided: the most recent OFSTED report :here shows some shortcomings, notably in Mathematics, ICT and the use of analysis to identify pupils who might be having difficulties or to make efficient planning Peter Shearan 14:14, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree with this. The statement that the school achieves better results than the Grammar can surely not be written without referring to a reliable source. As a former student of the Grammar School, I've never heard of this so called 'fact' before, and I strongly suggest that it be removed. Luke Rogers 12:17, 3 July 2006

I think that what this article really needs is at least three more paragraphs, preferably about twenty. At this point, there's barely any information, not even an address or picture or description of how it runs, to worry about its POV. Someone with knowledge of the school's workings should simply add more factual information until the article is large enough to be worth picking over. ~Rust Culture 23:15, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can I also point out that the school has a mixed sixth form. Or at least there were definitely boys in the common room last Friday. 14 January 2007

I am a previous student of both the High School and the Grammar School, and i can confirm that this "so called fact", is in fact a correct statement with plenty of reliable sources. Check any league table, High school beats the Grammar hands down to be fair. Why was the comment in "Aims of This School", about the number of GCSE's students can take, still there? I put it in a while ago because I was annoyed that some of the most gifted girls in the area go to the High School and are not allowed to make the most of their potential because of the limited number of GCSE's offered - hence the comparison with local comprehensives which offer 14 - but it has been edited slightly and now looks as if the school has actually adopted it as part of their aims statement! And for the record, while the article says that options are in place to do more, when I chose my GCSE subjects I specifically asked if I could do lunchtime sessions to earn an extra GCSE and was told that the teachers were not prepared to give up their free time to teach me. I was not offered any alternatives and was stuck with just nine and a half GCSE's, despite the fact that if I'd failed my 11+ and gone to a comprehensive I could have been doing 14.
