Suggestions for "Perception and Awards" section[edit]

  1. Elaboration or a link to explain the United Kingdom's "regulations that require neutrality" -- particularly to see how Sky News and Fox News in the U.S. compare, credibilitywise. David (talk) 18:03, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  2. An explanation of the controversy behind running an interview with Lady Bienvenida Buck. David (talk) 18:03, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering whether you should comment on allegations of political bias? As in, I would state that the website message boards are censored heavily in a pro tory manner —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.128.223.68 (talk) 16:32, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

non partisan reporting[edit]

Wouldn't a column on the channels political independence be valid? Sky News (Uk and OZ) as well as Fox news in the States are all considered staunchly conservative/republican, to the point of outright bias.

It's a privately owned channel - by Rupert Murdoch, and was once edited by Kelvin McKenzie - two people who think anyone centre left are "marxists".

Read a stories message board - it's like Alf Garnett, over and over again. They censor out any moderate comments

On the 18th October 2018 Skynews Australia ran a story on the website "Malcolm Turnbull is a cancer within the Liberal Party". Turnbull was Prime Minister in Australia until 31st August, resigned from Parliament, necessitating a byelection on the 20th October. Nobody has offered a proper explanation why he was ousted. Describing Turnbull as a cancer is really over the top, and doing that two days before the election was election meddling. Skynews Australia is taking sides and needs to be registered as a foreign agent. Penalties for election meddling should also be explored. 2001:8003:AD40:8400:699E:C8B0:56AC:6ABD (talk) 05:29, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This absolutely needs to be done; ownership and political bias and alignment should be publicly available and viewable on Wikipedia. Someone get on it or else I'll have too and I am seriously bias against them considering my political beliefs. Someone please do this. Finton the magical salmon (talk) 04:36, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This article is about Sky News UK, not Australia. If you have a concern about the latter channel's article on Wikipedia, then you can raise those concerns on Talk:Sky News Australia. Tvcameraop (talk) 12:49, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaux[edit]

I work at Sky News and I edited the list of international bureaux and worldwide live studios.

The previous list was inaccurate as it listed non-existing bureaux and also listed live studios that are used for guests as actual bureaux (which implies a Sky News correspondent on the ground).

Programmes[edit]

I work at Sky News and I updated the list of programmes and their content following Sky News spring 2011 programme revamp and new schedule. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.202.253.202 (talk) 02:37, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Doorstepping incident by Martin Brunt[edit]

I added the following in criticism section related to doorstepping incident by Martin Brunt. I was surprised is wasn't mentioned as it was a high profile case that resulted in widespread media coverage

Sky News was again embroiled in controversy in October 2014, when their journalist Martin Brunt and his camera crew initiated and carried out a type of sting operation called doorstepping to reveal the identity of Brenda Leyland, who had posted comments concerning the McCann investigation on social media.[1] [2]Following the confrontation Leyland was later found dead in a hotel, leading to calls on social media for Brunt to be sacked[3]. During the inquest into Leyland’s death, Brunt expressed to the coroner that he was devastated at hearing the news of Leyland taking her own life. Following the inquest, Ofcom reported they had received 171 complaints to date in relation to the case and that they would consider these complaints in light of the coroner’s verdict.[4] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8084:25C0:380:D574:A687:B40:393E (talk) 23:38, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copy editing flag still needed?[edit]

I can't see who put the copy editing flag up or see why it was done. Is it really still necessary? Griffindd (talk) 11:08, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Who wrote KICK YOUR ASS RIGHT NOW! It needs to stop. Please, I'm soooo tired of this crap!

It was Shaylin. Shaylin how dare you are editing that's it you are grounded for 1 hour, at 9:00am! Now go to your room right now at Mum's bed/house.

It's 9:00am I will stop editing right now. 😎 and never do it again!😡 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:B984:5E00:408C:FACD:4F44:6965 (talk) 06:59, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaus[edit]

The plural of the English word "bureau" is "bureaus", not "bureaux". I've corrected instances of the misspelled words. Matuko (talk) 22:02, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clear up any misconceptions here . . . bureau is originally a French word, like many others, that has become part of the English language. Therefore, the plural form is OPTIONAL i.e. bureaus OR bureaux. Editrite! (talk) 09:11, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Poor choice of words[edit]

One caption to an illustration reads as follows:

"Sky News viewing peaked during 11 September attacks, Iraq War, Asian tsunami, 7 July 2005 London bombings and the death of Diana, Princess of Wales but has generally declined to a quarter achieved in 1992–95"

The last phrase "declined to a quarter achieved in 1992–95" is so poorly worded that very few readers will understand it.

But also, there is no need for this illustration! It tells us that more people listen to and watch news programs on days when there is important news. But everybody already knows this.2600:1700:E1C0:F340:BD07:6D57:F259:5F86 (talk) 21:25, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Germany[edit]

The claim under the heading “reception” that Sky News International is not available on Sky Deutschland is incorrect. It is broadcast on Sky Deutschland channel 719. 2003:D8:5734:9D60:5DB8:F6B9:6F3:43A2 (talk) 18:02, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
