Dear friends, been one of the authors of sky-map.org I understand that it's difficalt for me to be objective. I will be happy to see any corrections in this article. Thanks, (Kostya30 15:22, 16 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Hi Kostya; WP:STYLE might be worth looking over; for example all the second person "you" statements need changing to third person ("the user", or whatever). I would also check WP:Notability. Marasmusine 15:26, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I marked the page for deletion, as it isn't encyclopedic in any sense; just a product blurb with a bit of what sounds like the user's manual. Markjoseph125 (talk) 04:46, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It seems it survived, which is the usual outcome for any article simply marked for deletion. In order for an article not to survive a deletion request, one has to really prove that the article is blatant advertizement, only has a few secondary sources, or fulfills a general promise of eternal trivialness, such as an article of a non-notable artist/athlete, a neologism that very few are likely to use, or is confusedly treating a fringe, fantasy or hoax topic that is unlikely to be a discussion topic anywhere. A successful deletion requires a lot of research by googling and examining the wikipedia deletion process. Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 18:51, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sky-map.org is used by wikipedia[edit]

Sky-map.org (or WikiSky.org) is used by wikipedia, in the sense that some astronomy articles like Messier 94 for example, have a link to WikiSky.org See the 'coordinates' link top right.

I thought that should be noted somewhere here. It's a "meta" point about wikipedia of course, so probably doesn't belong in the article, and I don't know if it factors into the deletion idea (but the decision was 'keep' anyway) I guess there's probably also a meta/developer discussion about setting up of these links somewhere?

Open Source? Source code and bug tracking[edit]

I was looking for the source code and bug tracker for wikisky.org . I found a bugzilla ticket. There is also a a forum on the site where people have posted some suggestions. Currently seems broken though. I guess it's closed source and has no bug tracker. Should that be stated on the article?

External links modified[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on SKY-MAP.ORG. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

Shutdown?[edit]

I have heard rumors that wiki-sky a.k.a. sky-map have shut down (permanently?). Can anyone confirm? Renerpho (talk) 15:06, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, but it did not load. User:Hamterous1 (discuss anything!🐹✈️) 15:53, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hah! The site has just returned from the grave (meaning, sky-map.org is back up and running, and the rumors I had heard were just that). I've rarely been happier to look stupid. Renerpho (talk) 02:12, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
