After the state park takes over Silver Springs[edit]

I wish that this article will be preserved (like that of Cypress Gardens) and start a new article for the renamed state park, if the state park system would not merge it with Silver River State Park. Any opinions? Rogerhamelin (talk) 22:29, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As the above request states...[edit]

As the above request states, now that this park and the Silver River State Park have been merged to form the "Silver Springs State Park" (as cited here), I would like to suggest that all information pertaining to this property from October 1, 2013 and forward be put on the "Silver River State Park" page (go here to check out my propsition to move that page), and all information regarding the park from the 1880s-Sept. 2013 should be contained on this page. With that, I think that this page should be moved to a better title to accredit it's entire 125+ year usage as an attraction, since "Silver Springs: Nature Theme Park" was only used since approx. 2003 when Palace Entertainment had first purchased it. I personally think that the new name should be something like "Silver Springs (attraction)" or something along those lines, but i'd definitely like to hear other people's ideas and comments as well. 98.180.118.6 (talk) 07:18, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Silver Springs Nature Theme Park → Silver Springs (attraction) – My reasoning for this move request is because the park's name didn't include "Nature Theme Park" before Palace Entertainment purchased it in the early 2000s, and since the page is covering the park history from the 1800s until 2013 when it was merged with the Silver River State Park, I believe that it's pagename should be the most commonly used name. The most commonly used name by locals around central Florida, if not other places as well, is just "Silver Springs", not only because it contains the natural springs, but also because the park even references itself as "Silver Springs" (see this and this). I believe the "(attraction)" should be added onto the end because "Silver Springs" is taken as a disambiguation, plus the land referred to in this article was used by the private landowners as an attraction for people from the 1800s until it was merged into the State Park in 2013. 98.180.118.6 (talk) 20:22, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There are several boats still in operation at the park[edit]

The article claims the Princess Donna is the only remaining glass bottom boat still in operation, however, not only are there 8 of the older boats still going at Silver Springs State Park, but there was a new one built in 2019 by me and a few others at St. Johns Ship Building Inc. in Palatka, FL. I am now the main mechanic responsible for maintaining the existing boats that belong to the state, they are ran by Cape Leisure Corporation. The boats that remain in service are as follows: Micanopy, Charlie Cypress, Neamathla, Yoholo, Emathla, Yahalochee, Heron, and the Osprey. The new GBB is named Chief Potackee and is an ADA accessible version with twin electric outboards. The Heron and Osprey have been converted to open-sided, canvas covered boats and are used for a 90 minute extended tour. All of these boats have been upgraded with new batteries and newer, more efficient electric outboards made by Elco. Tripleseis (talk) 18:14, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
