Chapter List[edit]

I have added a list of all chapters taken from the SAI website. Before you add another chapter, please make sure it is not already listed (by Greek chapter name); I have already had to delete a chapter that someone listed a second time. Also, please add any additional information that is missing, including locations or links to modern schools, if the original organization no longer exits at that name.--TheCookTravels (talk) 02:47, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Founding[edit]

Please stop changing the link from University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance back to [University School of Music]]. The National headquarters page of Sigma Alpha Iota states that they were established at the University School of music whereas University School of Music links to the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance.[1] Additionally if you read the 'history of SAI ann arbor - 1903' it specifically states 'IT IS COMMENCEMENT DAY JUNE 12, 1903 ON THE CAMPUS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN AT ANN ARBOR.'[2] Additionally on the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance it specifically states that the first chapter of the fraternity was at the school.[3] Please discuss any changes regarding this here instead of on the main page. --ImmortalGoddezz 16:24, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The correct phrasing is University School of Music. Your reference 2 is taken in part from the May 1964 issue (60th Anniversary Issue) of Pan Pipes. Above the aforementioned quote, not shown on the website, is a picture of the "installation certificate" for Alpha chapter. This certificate clearly states that Alpha chapter has been installed at the University School of Music. If you look farther down the page of reference 2, they state: "...Mrs. Fredreka Howard, wife of William Howard, head of the Vocal department of the University School of Music, Ann Arbor, Michigan...."[4]
Today, the school is called the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. It seems as if the terms the University of Michigan School of Music and University School of Music were used somewhat interchangeably in SAI history, but Alpha chapter was clearly installed in the University School of Music. It was not called the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in 1903, so this in itself would be incorrect. This term has been in place since July of 2006, according to the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance wikipedia page [5]. As the University School of Music is the title given on the Sigma Alpha Iota National website History page [6], it should be listed as such here.
