Flour made from human bones?[edit]

There's a story going around that during the siege the parisians were so desperate for a meal that they started grinding human bones to make flour and used it to make bread (and had bad results). Before adding that into the article I've tried to find reputable sources.

  • Best source I can find is Memoires-Journaux by Pierre de L'Estoile section August 1590 ("août 1590") (google books, in french). Page 47, line 25 ("le pain fait des os de nos pères"). Also page 26, lines 28-32
  • Yet another source is Nourritures canailles by Madeleine Ferrières (2004) section L'os à pain ("the bread bone") (google books, in french).
  • There are many other sources online but not so reputable (try googling "siege of paris bone bread")

Posting here seeking added verification before including this in the article, in case anyone can find something else. Tharos (talk) 04:45, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
