Here's an obvious question: Do British show hunters show over fences, or just on the flat? (Jumping is mentioned once, in passing) If they show over fences, what sort of height and spread of obstacles is used? Also, what are the judging criteria?
Also, we need to explain "pointed toes" -- I think you are referring to what we in the states call "Daisy cutter" motion, though that too is meaningless out of context...Am I correct that both the US and UK show hunter would be penalized either for too much knee action AND/OR for what some people here call 'bean-shooter' action -- sort of flicking the feet out, locking the knee and landing either flat-footed or heel first? No, only working hunters show over fences, not actual show hunters. And yes, pointed toe means daisy cutting, I think both terms are common over here. I'll try and put more information on about the working hunters (although it's pretty much the same as working cobs, but with bigger fences - I don't think there are any rules to fence heights like there are in cob classes, as hunter are expected to be able to jump up to about 4 ft at least) Katdib 10:50, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
