Article Length[edit]

If anyone is more familiar with the university and can contribute to the article, I think it would be great. The article doesn't seem long enough for the school.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 19:53, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there is more to say about this university's importance (and all HBCUs) in creating leaders in the community should be emphasized. It might also be useful to have a list of university presidents.--Parkwells (talk) 15:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citations[edit]

I've put in appropriate inline citations, but don't understand the formatting of this article - they don't automatically show up as they should.--Parkwells (talk) 18:03, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I finally learned this template, due to your example, and have been adding it to the many other articles where needed.--Parkwells (talk) 13:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
NP. It took me a while to figure it out as well. APK yada yada 13:20, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of CAPE centers and directors[edit]

This is more material than is usually included of this type. It suggests self-advertising. I think it would be enough to have the centers listed in the paragraph above. Also, no source is cited for "4th largest" HBCU - and how that is defined - number of centers, number of students? --Parkwells (talk) 13:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC

Parkwells this is your one and only warning. Please discontinue these degrading actions or your account will undergo restrictions or will be terminated. Thank You for your Cooperation.

Encyclopedia not marketing[edit]

Please stop adding extraneous material to article. This is not a marketing venue for Shaw University, but an encyclopedia article. Such marketing material will be removed.--Parkwells (talk) 12:25, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excessive college catalog material[edit]

This is not an advertising site for the college. Stop adding such marketing material as college traditions and convocation day.--Parkwells (talk) 14:38, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a possible racist or eurocentric editor using the site to devalue the integrity of institution because its a HBCU. Other articles on schools such as East Carolina University, North Carolina State University, Appalachian State University, Western Carolina University, as well as a number of other sites have used catalog information and have cited sources regarding the traditions, student life, etc. of the various colleges and such articles haven't been subjugated to such devaluation as this one have. If this sort of anti-afrocentrism or Ethnocentrism continues, the proper authorities will be reached and legal action will be taken. Thank you for your cooperation and let us remember, wikipedia was established for the sake of academia and not personal centrism! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.39.34.133 (talk) 13:38, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Use wiki conventions for formatting[edit]

Contributing editors, please make the attempt to learn Wiki conventions for Reference and External Link citations. You are adding sloppy work that others must fix. Soon we'll just delete it, because why should we do your work for you?--Parkwells (talk) 14:56, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shorten lead[edit]

This is much too long. This is not supposed to duplicate a college catalog, but be an encyclopedia article on the college.--Parkwells (talk) 13:58, 20 June 2008 (UTC) , —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.39.34.133 (talk) 13:43, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shorten sections on curriculum and traditions[edit]

Too long, too wordy, too much like marketing. This is not supposed to tell every detail about religion or any other aspect of the college. Editors should look at material n other major universities for examples.--Parkwells (talk) 13:58, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
