Correcting details[edit]

In a Talk:Peregrine Falcon#Merge from Shaheen Falcon, User: Shyamal said of this article: "This fork is actually quite unreliable. That claim that peregrinator is migratory is only supported by that Forktail paper which is an unreliable source that contradicts all the reliable sources of regional avifauna (see for instance Ali & Ripley's Handbook) and it seems more like an oversight. The only real classification debate is whether pelegrinoides should be separated or not and it would seem like there is little doubt that they all form a tight species complex that makes it problematic only if the falconry classification is considered."

I just added that "It has also been described as a migratory subspecies", after its description as a non-migratory species, based on this article. I was trying to verify the non-migratory claim, and that's the only source I happened to find. It may be wrong, but it seems like a reliable source; Forktail is ostensibly a peer-reviewed journal, and Clayton White, one of the article's three authors, is a professor of zoology who's written and edited several books about birds, including two on peregrine falcons. Marc Kéry, another of its authors, is from the Swiss Ornithological Institute, and seems to have expertise more in ecological population analysis. If you're certain it's not a reliable source, I'll remove it. If you can contriute a reliable source for the non-migratory claim, that would be great. It would also be nice if you could add more current or more accurate info on the taxonomic status of peregrinator. Agyle (talk) 03:58, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
