Cultural smudging problem[edit]

This page has a lot of dishes that aren't Sephardic. Why is there a picture of Faloodeh and why is Skhug listed here? Persian and Yemenite Jews aren't Sephardic. This really needs some cleaning up. Sephardi, Mizrahi, and other Jewish groups are all different from each other. Sephardic isn't a catch-all term for "Eastern" Jewish food. It's problematic to assume so. Nevermiand. Please note there may not always be a clear distinction between Sephardic and Mizrahi items. Sephardic communities in many cases later migrated into what are now considered to be “Mizrahi” jurisdiction and experienced cultural fusion or overlap (most especially with liturgy with many Mizrahi communities adopting many elements of Sephardi liturgy).
This is one of the reasons why Mizrahi was a late terminological addition: Sephardi was also used to described communities that only later began to use the term Mizrahi.
I would take caution in removing any items from this page unless the communities in question have taken great pains to cease use of the Sephardi term. Mistamystery (talk) 21:29, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
