Bureau, slant-top desk, and merge proposal[edit]

Regarding this article and the article "Desk Types"... This may be a national thing, but in the UK, this would be referred to as a "Bureau Bookcase". Take the bookcase off the top and it is simply a "Bureau".

A "Secretaire" (UK) is a chest of drawers (US: dresser) where the top drawer (or drawer made to look like the top two rows of drawers) fold down after the drawer has been opened and the writing surface is the back of the drawer front. The body of the drawer is usually fitted for stationery &c. Add a bookcase on top and it becomes a "Secretaire Bookcase". --

Writing Style[edit]

"To those not used to it, the secretary desk looks like a mutant made up of a mix" - does not quite seem to fit regular Wikipedia writing style. --212.79.22.193 (talk) 10:48, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
