Racing car template[edit]

I've had a stab at a template for racing cars (see template:Racing car) to summarise the usual data. I've used the F1 templates as a starting point and applied it to the Brabham BT46 article. If anyone's got an interest in this, please have a look at the template and modify or suggest changes as appropriate. After a few people have had a go at it and we have something we're happy with we could start to use it more widely. Note that it's not meant to be specific to F1, by the way. I used all these books to update the article. "Super Sports" has an extensive section on the development of the Mercedes M117 engine but there is way more information than needed. Section about the Peugeot P88[edit]

This is largely irrelevant to the history of the Sauber C9. Suffice it to say that the the Sauber is second only to this car in recorded top speed. The reasons why and the means by which is was achieved pertain to an article about the Peugeot and so it should be removed as an irrelevance. Unfortunately, the Sauber article needs considerable fleshing out and equally unfortunately, the article leaves out the team's considerable achievements for the 1989 season and goes down the rabbit hole of top speed arguments. What is the point of only listing top speed in the list of achievements? I'll give the customary two weeks from this date and if there are no reasons supplied as to why it should stay, I'll remove it. Flanker235 (talk) 02:39, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The following section has been removed for reasons of relevance and lack of referencing:

"However the WM, optimized for a low drag setup and high straight line speed, suffered from handling problems elsewhere on the circuit and the engine was prone to overheating. Indeed, the car's fastest time was set with tape applied over the ducting for aerodynamic purposes and was withdrawn as soon as a new record was set to avoid an expensive rebuild."

Achievements section[edit]

I have expanded the article in the "Achievements" to reflect the C9's performances in the 1988 and 89 seasons. Hopefully, this will give a broader understanding of what the car was capable of and the considerable success it achieved. Flanker235 (talk) 08:23, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
