Years of Birth and Death[edit]

Who Was Who in America, Historical Volume 1607-1896 lists his birth in 1572 in Bristol, and his death in 1639. Neither agrees with those in the article. Any idea how they should be reconciled? Badbilltucker 14:55, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Book by William Vollmann[edit]

I'm not sure whether this is worth mentioning in the article, but he is the title character (but not the central character) of William Vollmann's historical novel Argall: The True Story of Pocahontas and Captain John Smith. - 64.81.170.123 (talk) 01:19, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Portrait[edit]

The portrait shown is not Samuel Argall but Lord de la Warr (see his article in Encyclopedia of Virginia). The mistake has been picked up from another site specialising in Virginian history but I am afraid I cannot remember which. There is no portrait of Sam although he features and is named in a contemporary etching. I can give you a link to that if you want it. Mauvesin (talk) 09:26, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
