Accuracy[edit]

I doubt the 6900 volt figure. I believe 69000 is correct, but have no reference. LorenzoB (talk) 16:15, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Coverage[edit]

It would be interesting to know how long it took REA to reach 25%, 50% and 75% of the rural areas (we never have reached 100%), or maybe have a map showing the coverage in a given year. I know my mom in northern MN finally got electricity in the end of 1949, then they moved to a ranch in North Dakota which did not yet have electricity. Add reference to cooperatives and history article[edit]

This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered.

Suggesting the addition of the following footnote to the second sentence ("The funding was channeled through cooperative electric power companies, most of which still exist today") to provide support for the statement about the role of cooperatives. The cited article includes further historical background on the REA and American rural electrification. (I am an editor with the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, which published the article.) Also, suggest changing "most of which" to "hundreds of which" -- I cannot find support for "most of which."

The funding was channeled through cooperative electric power companies, hundreds of which still exist today.^[1]
