Royal Palace of Amsterdam -> Dam Square Palace[edit]
The title “Royal Palace of Amsterdam” has almost no foundation. In the Netherlands everyone speaks of “Dam Square Palace” (Paleis op de Dam). The name “Royal Palace of Amsterdam” is perhaps only used locally for tourist purposes and by the superintendent of the royal palaces. The inhabitants of Amsterdam, like all other Dutch citizens, speak of “Paleis op de Dam” (Dam Square Palace). Correctly, the Dutch language Wikipedia article on the palace is titled “Paleis op de Dam”. Similarly, the royal palaces in The Hague are called Noordeinde Palace and Huis ten Bosch Palace, and no one speaks of the “Royal Palace of The Hague” and neither do the relevant articles in Wikipedia. It would be a contradiction to the non-formalist tradition of the Netherlands. Whomever thought up the title for this article, either is not Dutch or works for the Amsterdam tourist office. It's historically incorrect and could be considered Amsterdam centralist thinking, similar to London centralist thinking, which would make it political. Lastly, the titles of the articles on Dutch royal palaces in the English language Wikipedia should all be styled the same way. We normally use titles preferred by English-language sources. The native name of an object is quite irrelevant. In English-language sources that I have seen, the term "Dam Square Palace" is never used. --Ghirla-трёп- 16:35, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
