Merger[edit]

It has been suggested that the information at Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society be merged into this article. Comments? -- Ssilvers 18:11, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So much better as a joint piece. Thank you. Tim Riley 19:10, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Founded when?[edit]

The article gives two founding dates in the first three sentences. Like this...

The RLPS was founded in 1840. It is one of the oldest concert-giving organisations in the world, and the second oldest in Britain. It was granted the title ‘Royal’ in 1957. The orchestra was founded in the 1860s, led by Sir Julius Benedict.

Which is it? --Blake the bookbinder (talk) 07:51, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have clarified this in the article by extending certain sentences and deleting erroneous remarks. The distinction to be made is between the 'Society' and the 'Orchestra' and the two articles combined caused the confusion. 79.75.73.79 (talk) 19:10, 27 September 2008 (UTC) Balliol1980[reply]

New references[edit]

I have added some new material with references. Unfortunately I haven't managed to master the existing referencing format, and though very conscious of WP:CITEVAR I have used a normal format. Apologies, and very happy if anyone more adept than I likes to amend. Tim riley (talk) 09:59, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
