1904 cast[edit]

Sorry to be a spoilsport, but The Manchester Guardian 20 July 1904, p. 4, says, "Messrs. Anthony Hope, Bernard Shaw, and Henry Arthur Jones had been announced as courtiers, but failed to put in an appearance. A gentleman made up as Mr. Bernard Shaw was but a poor substitute for the original." The Guardian goes on to list the five dramatists who did show up as supernumeraries, but their names do not ring in posterity's ear: "Mr. Edward Rose, Mr. Alfred Sutro, Colonel Newnham Davis, Miss Margaret Young and Mrs. Alicia Ramsey. The travesty was preceded by 'The Fairy's Dilemma'." - Tim riley (talk) 20:51, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

@Tim riley: We have articles on Edward Rose, Alfred Sutro, Colonel Newnham Davis, and Alicia Ramsey. DuncanHill (talk) 15:49, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed we have. I wrote the one on Colonel Newnham-Davis. But he and the others mentioned are not in the GBS league so far as posthumous fame is concerned, meseems. Tim riley talk 16:13, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
