See is in Metropolis[edit]

The see is within the metropolis. It is called a metropolitan see, but never "the diocesan see is the metropolitan see." They are two different terms. See (!) Catholic Encyclopedia. I don't think it has changed much. Student7 (talk) 20:34, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is this better? The point is we ought to have a note about the Metropolitan bishop/Metropolitan see. The "Metropolis" is not the province; the metropolis is the principal see (or the city) in the province. As an adjective, "Metropolitan" refers to "whatever relates" to such a see.[1] It is acceptable to say that the Archdiocese of Miami is a "Metropolitan" Archdiocese in the sense that the Metropolitan bishop is there. "Metropolitan Archdiocese" is used in this sense in a couple of places in the New Catholic Encyclopedia[2] and similar works.[3]--Cúchullain t/c 21:17, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I like your new wording better than the New Catholic Encyclopedia!  :) Student7 (talk) 23:25, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
