Pronunciation of name[edit]

@Gerda Arendt: Is it "heiss-gen"? Jmar67 (talk) 11:47, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No idea, never heard it pronounced. My guess: of Dutch origin, see Huis (woning) [nl], where the "i" is not heard, only marking the other vowel long. In German Huusgen, "s" not sharp. - Could also be like Duisburg, then Hüsgen. I'd not arrive at any "ei" sound, nor a sharp "ss". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:56, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have followed your first suggestion, also asked a former colleague (Dipl.-Chemikerin), who might know. Also WP:DE talk page. Waitress at a restaurant here named Huizing (hyoozing). I suspect the common English pronunciation for RH is "hyoozgen". Jmar67 (talk) 06:47, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
