Not a promotional article[edit]

I am following the steps to oppose the deletion of this page, thus removing the proposed deletion banner and explaining here why I think this page should stay on Wikipedia.

For the past months, I focused my Wikipedia contributions on Italian businesses and economic leaders (I never thought I would get so much into it when I started). Many of those pages needed development, updates, and sometimes large text cuts because the hagiography was overflowing. I created the page Roberto Vedovotto because it felt necessary to connect the dots in the Italian eyewear industry, since Vedovotto rebooted Safilo and then founded Kering Eyewear, two leaders of the eyewear industry that is largely dominated by Italian and French companies to begin with.

The sources I used go way back to 1999, Vedovotto has been featured in major magazines and newspapers, and he still gets press coverage today. There have been a few additions to my work on this page since I created it (I'll go ahead and erase them), but aside from that, I do not see what is promotional about this page. I tried to make it as neutral and straight-to-the-point as possible.

What should be done to make it more acceptable? Thanks! Burgmaestro (talk) 02:13, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I notice just now that there are also banners on this page for "notability" and "reads like a press release". I feel like this is what triggered the proposed deletion. I'll leave those banners on the page since this debate is probably not over, but following the arguments I laid out above, I don't think these banners are necessary on this page.
