December 2019[edit]

Some recent IP edits to this page have come from the European Parliament and Belgium, and in both cases deleted, without explanation, fully sourced material. I reverted the deletions both times, and will resist adding a COI template just yet, but I will leave this here, just in case it is relevant to anyone reading:

Apologies was unaware of the rules surrounding edits. A few changes I would like to see please.

In 'Early career' -

The chronology is incorrect. I started my career at Lazard Asset Management and then went to Odey Asset Management, then Soros Fund Management and returned to Lazard. Following this I went to Cheyne Capital Management before setting up Bowdon Capital.

In 'Political Career' -

The article incorrectly uses the term 'Climate change denialist'. To be specific he states that there are numerous causes for Climate Change. See speech originally cited. The term 'climate change sceptic' would be more appropriate. The article is far too subjective there as my full speech does not reflect that. I attack the policies seeking to address it and their harm on the economy, not the theory of Climate Change itself.

In the European Parliament, he is a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and a substitute on the Committee for Industry, Research and Energy. In Parliament, he has spoken on the crisis in Venezuela (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRkDTlSTAFQ), waste in the EU Budget (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qncj-sloyx0) and on climate change policies(see earlier). He is an outspoken critic of the policies being proposed by the EU and UK to tackle climate change, highlighting the detrimental effects on the environment, marine ecosystems, migratory birds as well as the economy. He argues the high level of system subsidies which are born by the poorest in society and have contributed to increased levels of fuel poverty. He has compared Net Zero to unilateral disarmament, a reference to unilateral nature of the UK’s and the EU’s CO2 emissions when other countries like China are failing to lower their own CO2 emission levels.

Thanks for these. I will take a closer look later and make appropriate changes (unless another editor does so first). I have immediately changed the word “denialist” to “sceptic”. Youtubue is not the best of sources, although it is sometimes allowed. One problem with youtube is that cited videos do not get archived. Any text reference cited in Wikipedia is archived by the Internet Archive within 24 hours, so that information remains permanently verifiable. Early Career - I have updated your career information as you described it above. I have not inserted Bowdon Capital at this time. I am not convinced it is notable. The company has small assets, no website and I don't see that it offers any services. Political Career I added back in the deleted link to the Telegraph article. You are right, that is good information. However the original text around it did not describe it properly. Warning about the liabilities - to me at least - implies a warning about money the UK may have to pay to cover liabilities. What you warned about in that article (and as confirmed by the Times article) is the UK giving up a claim to accumulated profits. I have tried another form of words - let me know if that does not capture the summary for some reason. Hi there. Images can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and used from there, but before you do so, images used on Wikipedia have to comply with copyright law so you need to understand that you must either provide a fair use rationale for uploading the image, or else the image must be licensed under a compatible license (essentially a license that allows all use of the image, including commercial use, although you can require attribution). If you own the image itself, you can release it on Wikimedia commons. If it is someone else's image you need to know the license terms because the upload will ask you to confirm these.

I am not an expert on this myself - I have only ever uploaded a handful of images - but I do know that if the image cannot be licensed in a suitable manner, Wikimedia won't host it.
