Do we need this page?[edit]

Loved the series but having this article as a page of its own seems pretty excessive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.241.21.181 (talk) 02:15, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • The relationship has abundant coverage, distinguished from the characters individually and the show in general. The relationship warrants its own article. See Wikipedia:Notability, especially General notability guideline at WP:GNG. —RCraig09 (talk) 18:05, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Νο, we probably don't. Articles such as this one are usually, eventually merged into the main one (in our case, into the Killing Eve article) since every single mention of the "relationship" is within the context of the series. -The Gnome (talk) 09:15, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Of course "every single mention of the relationship is within the context of the series"—they are fictional characters! The points you're missing are that the relationship is notably unique in fiction (see especially the section on 'Social, creative and thematic content'), and, more important on Wikipedia, the content of reliable sources often focuses on the relationship to a degree that makes it significant enough to not be merely a subsection in the Killing Eve article. Also, obviously, the relationship is distinct from the individuals separately; the content here would have to be unnecessarily duplicated if included in the characters' articles (as I discovered during the drafting process). —RCraig09 (talk) 16:38, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We could have many articles about the series' themes. But it takes a whole lot more than what's out there (as opposed to personal preferences or work) to justify a stand-alone article for them. -The Gnome (talk) 18:48, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you mean by "what's out there"—coverage of the relationship in reliable sources? If so, that's not an issue here.
I don't understand at all what you mean by by "personal preferences or work".
Starting with WP:Notability I've looked for the "whole lot more" you refer to, but beyond the WP:General notability guidelines I could find no further requirements.
Keep in mind, in drafting the separate Eve Polastri and Villanelle (character) articles, I discovered that the present "Relationship..." article was needed. And there's too much detail, I think, to copy to the Killing Eve article. —RCraig09 (talk) 19:23, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with The Gnome that this article is excessive and not necessary per WP:NOTEVERYTHING. The article is well done but I think that all of the information here could be placed in the respective character articles instead (some of it is already there in addition to here) or the Killing Eve page. • I'm just some complete and utter rando, and even to me, it's obvious that this article doesn't belong on Wikipedia (per WP:NOTEVERYTHING). But it's equally clear to me that this was written by someone or someones who have a real passion for story and analysis, and this article *does* belong *somewhere*! Whoever took the time and care to write this article, this might not be the place, but please keep analyzing, synthesizing, and writing. 38.94.171.200 (talk) 17:58, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep at this location. There are fictional-character "relationship" articles on Wikipedia (examples: Superman and Lois Lane, Luke and Laura), and it doesn't violate or even resemble the WP:NOTEVERYTHING prohibitions: dictionary? original thought? soapbox/promotion? repository? blog? web hosting service? social networking service? memorial site? directory? manual? guidebook? textbook? scientific journal? crystal ball? newspaper? indiscriminate collection of information? As I wrote above: I discovered in researching the two separate "character" articles that a substantial amount of WP:RS's coverage focused on this unique relationship—compelling me to begin this standalone article to avoid wholesale duplication of content (minor overlap of background info is unavoidable). Especially this topic's "Social, thematic and creative context" section ensures it is not mere trivia. It's probably a bit too detailed for the Killing Eve article, so it seems clear to me this standalone article is the best place for this content. —RCraig09 (talk) 18:38, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This edit (click) moves content from the lead to a new section, /* Context of the relationship */. It is abundantly clear that reliable sources consider the relationship per se to be significant, both in the context of the television series and on broader social issues (the ref name=Buzzfeed_20190404 content, soon to be moved to /* Social, thematic and creative context */). —RCraig09 (talk) 18:59, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I plan to merge[edit]

Per the results of the deletion discussion here, I plan to perform the merge of essential material into the main Killing Eve article in the next day or two. I'm presuming this article will be replaced by a redirect. Reply here with any comments or suggestions. —16:27, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
Admins: please don't delete the Wikitext here, until after the merger is complete. —RCraig09 (talk) 16:27, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
