Native to New Guinea[edit]

The Wikipedia article says that this turtle possibly lives in Papua New Guinea too. I noticed the April 2010 issue of the National Geographic Magazine (page 121, author: Douglas Chadwick) states that "Reimann's snake-necked turtle, a New Guinea native, has a seven-inch long shell and strong jaws to crunch snails, and it smells like a skunk." I'm not savvy enough to know whether this is correct or not, but I still wanted to point it out in case somebody bolder and more competent than me wants to check this source too and modify the article. ﻯναოթ€ռ, yes the sources say it lives on New Guinea. Papua New Guinea is half of the island New Guinea, so perhaps it lives there as well. Utopiantos (talk) 09:31, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Complete distributions of a number of species in New Guinea are not known, it is highly possible, even probable this species occurs west of the Fly in Western Provence. However there is no published evidence to confirm this. I assure you Nat Geo could not know one way or the other. I work on these species, and I do not know the full distribution yet.
