Refugees of Sudan, a work in progress[edit]

This article/stub is a work in progress. I am currently adding more citations and content (slowly, but surely). I would like to expand the "origins" section, giving background for the reasons for migration, as well as linking to specific articles (like the Sudanese Civil War or Darfur Conflict articles). Also, I think that the definitions section is important to frame the issues that affect the refugee (and IDP) populations. It will also be important to provide demographic information (numbers) about the refugee populations.

Finally (for now) I hope to address the issue of internally displaced persons in Sudan as well as non-Sudanese refugees in Sudan, as they are relavant to the topic. The issue of southern Sudanese refugees in northern Sudan may deserve special attention (at least a small section/paragraph) because it may impact the topic of Sudanese Refugees in a major way in the near future. When South Sudanese become a nationality, do southern Sudanese IDPs become South Sudanese refugees? Will there be dual citizenship? What implications might this have for international aid/intervention? And how does this relate to the conflict in Darfur?

Please contribute to the discussion here or contact me on my talk page! ParisianTaupe (talk) 15:37, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
