Nickname[edit]

During the broadcast of Ultimate Fight Night 8, Rashad was announced as "" Rashad Evans. I noticed that an edit was reverted which added this to his name. Is there some sort of policy against this, or did the editor who reverted it (Sue Anne) just think it was vandalism? I can understand if this is the case since I don't think it's a very widely known nickname, but since he was announced this way, I think it should be included. I'll go ahead and put it back, but if there's a policy against it, could you please post it here so that I (and others) know in the future? Capmaster 05:41, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If there is any question about verifiability, etc.: I personally attended the event (sitting in Row B, Seat 1 in Section 205), and not only did the announcer refer to him as "Sugar Rashad Evans" both before and after the fight, but T-shirts to that effect were printed up, one of which was given to me. Photos of various individuals wearing the same shirt — including Keith Jardine — can be seen on any of a number of mixed-martial-arts-related message boards. TOttenville8 10:59, 03 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the one that initially reverted the change, and I apologize for the error. Given the vandalism that happens on the article, and that I was a few days behind on watching UFC Fight Night, I didn't know that he was officially using it as his nickname. --Sue Anne 01:07, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"BroCop"[edit]

As it turns out, there may actually be something to this "BroCop" business|http://www.bettormma.com/site/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2674

Allow me to state that I also personally know the individual who posted the above; without going into great detail, said individual has been working in the mixed-martial-arts industry for many years, lending further credence to the possibility that this is indeed legitimate.

The origin of it appears to be related to the fact that Rashad worked as a security guard at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing before he appeared on the show ("BroCop" being a take-off on "CroCop," Mirko Filipovic's nickname).

As it happens, there is an excellent chance that I will actually be seeing Rashad in about two weeks (I've already met him on two previous occasions), and if I do I will definitely ask him about it. --TOttenville8 11:02, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tell him to add the nickname to his website if so, or we still won't be able to add it since we won't have a reliable source. VegaDark 09:36, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Rashad has a web site? That's news to me. Do you know the URL? And remember that the first "BroCop" edit appears to have been made on 1 February - after Rashad's finishing move in the Sean Salmon fight drew comparisons with Filipovic, and hence may have contributed to all of this "BroCop" stuff. -- TOttenville8 09:58, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if he has a website or not, but I was assuming he did. And of course "BroCop" is referring to CroCop, but that is irrelevant. A few forum posters and fans referring to him as such does not constitute a reliable source, which is required when adding info to Wikipedia pages. VegaDark 01:28, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have never advocated including it here; I was merely pointing out that there is a good chance that there was more to it than "vandalism." And thanks for clearing up my concerns about any website existing -- TOttenville8 09:53, 27 April 2007 (UTC)their is nothing is important about rashad evans thats all i have to say[reply]

MMA Record[edit]

He's the biggest douchebag I have ever met in my life According to the UFC website Rashad is 15-0-0 and of course with the recent draw would put his record to 15-0-1. http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=399

The UFC are including 2 amateur bouts. Thesaddestday 11:18, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to Fightmatrix "All fights that took place during Season 2 of The Ultimate Fighter series are considered as professional MMA bouts by Nevada State Athletic Commission (see NSAC official results here). All fights in all other seasons of The Ultimate Fighter are considered exhibition bouts."

If it wasn't for the point deducted, Tito would have won?[edit]

Keep in mind, grabbing the cage (numerous times) prevents damage because the person does not get slammed, this means that Rashad could have caused massive damage from every take-down and slam on Tito. I honestly think that the note for Rashad's fight against Tito is too biased, either change it or remove it.

I agree with you. Rashad is just better fighter. --207.145.131.168 16:17, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tito would have won that fight do the math judges scored it 28-28 a draw add that point that was deducted and Tito won that fight. Also "Massive damage" are you crazy Rashad got a maximum of 3 take downs in that whole fight while Tito got about 5-6 Tito clearly won that fight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.91.48.172 (talk) 12:42, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rashad Liddell Fight description[edit]

I would like to note that Liddell actually connected the uppercut at about the same time.. but Rashad had head movement and just dodged the uppercut while throwing his overhand right. This is refutable but I am just throwing it out there. --ShadowSlave 18:16, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

No, it's not refutable; I watched the fight live. Both hits connected at the same time. Also, I'd like to contest the use of the phrase "crashing to the canvas;" I believe the choice of words is meant to dramatically play on the meaning of the phrase itself. Something like the phrase "knocked him out" would have sufficed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.188.152.6 (talk) 03:52, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality tag?[edit]

I'm not seeing anything so wrong with this article that makes it deserving of this tag. My instinct is to remove it, but I wanted input. Am I missing something wrong with this article?--Cube lurker (talk) 08:20, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since no one has identified any neutrality issues i'm going to remove the tag. If you disagree and replace it, please try to spell out your concern here on the talk page.--Cube lurker (talk) 13:45, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

why does it say he lost to quinton in may 23 2009 can you see the future???[edit]

Record Discrepancy[edit]

After reverting a change of his record from 13-0-1 to 18-0-1. I was approached on my talk page. Reference User_talk:Cube_lurker#Sugar_Rashad_Evans & User_talk:Antonidus#Rashad_Evans. It seems that Sherdog has him at the 13-0-1 number, yet the UFC site and promotions have him listed at 18-0-1. I'm bringing it here for further input.--Cube lurker (talk) 19:39, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sherdog isn't perfect (far from it actually) and I somewhat doubt the UFC is lying about it, so 18-0-1 is probably accurate. As long as it's reliably sourced (as it is) I have no problem with it. People are no doubt going to edit war over it though.--aktsu (t / c) 20:40, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, Sherdog might have mistakes just as MMA Weekly does. However, I've noticed that the UFC has a lot of mistakes. They quite often change their fighters stats. (records, reach, height). I noticed this when I first started to casually watch MMA. Particularly Rich Franklin. He was the first one that I noticed they kept changing his stats. Then I saw it with other fighters also. As far as Evans goes, count up his fights and his opponents are 5 short of the number 18. Maybe for publicity reasons the UFC is including his exhibition fights to pad his record.--Qwertasdfgzx (talk) 21:21, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I know it's not a reliable source but I read a long sherdog forum discussion on this. What I gather first of all is that the UFC includes TUF fights that no one else counts. That's 3 of the 5 missing fights. That still leaves 2 mystery fights that no one has an answer for.--Cube lurker (talk) 00:08, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suga or Sugar - Nickname[edit]

Which is it? UFC has it as "Suga" right under his real name but underneath it says "Sugar" by his action figure. His Facebook says "Suga", Sherdog Fight Finder has it as "Sugar" while simultaneously using Suga in various articles. Various other reliable sources use both Sugar and Suga as well. Jonhan (talk) 03:30, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • If there are reliable sources with both nicknames "Suga" and "Sugar" then add them both with references. Example being Mark Kerr as "The Titan", "The Smashing Machine" and "The Specimen". --Drr-darkomen (talk) 17:43, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rashad's record appears incorrect as of 30Sept2009[edit]

On this wiki page it claims Rashad's record is 13-1-1. However I was JUST watching the Liddell v. Evans fight and it said his current record is 16-1-1. Out of curiosity I went to www.ufc.com to check his official record and it's stated as being 18-1-1 (http://www.ufc.com/RashadEvans). However I'm unable to find a full breakdown of all his wins/losses/draws. Does anyone have any input as to why the record on here is so far off from his posted UFC record? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ZeroAccend (talkcontribs) 23:01, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This has already been addressed above under "Record Discrepancy"--Qwertasdfgzx (talk) 03:00, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
