Ok, folks, can we PLEASE discuss the content that has recently been reverted and deleted and restored and...? Shearonink (talk) 23:13, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Listings and deletions[edit]

I don't know if it would solve any of the chronic problems of edit-warring here, but due to so much editing by anonymous IP's, I wonder about semi-protection for this article.

This is an excellent article in terms of general historical information imo. That said, laundry lists of genealogical material somewhat exceed the bounds of an encyclopedia, and some of the deleted material includes personal information about living persons, which I would hope is an obvious problem, and deletion is certainly supported by wp:BLP policy of long standing.

There are many issues that need to be discussed. It's hard to conceive of so much contention with NO use of the discussion page AT ALL. Has it been blanked at some point? One has to wonder? rags (talk) 16:37, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edits may be needed to Pres. Thomas Jefferson's entry in ->Descendants[edit]

Very new to wikipedia editing, and i don't have time to check some of these things and fix them. But i noticed two issues with Pres. Thomas Jefferson's relations under "Descendants": first it implies Sally Hemmings was the owner of Monticello (Jefferson's plantation), second it incorrectly (as far as i know) calls his daughter Martha Jefferson Randolph, "Martha Washington Jefferson" RainbowSprnklz (talk) 15:19, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Scratch that bit about implying Sally Hemmings owns Monticello; I think that's just a flaw, but a consistent flaw, of this family tree format. RainbowSprnklz (talk) 14:04, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Everything I can find supports that President Thomas Jefferson's first daughter, Martha, never had 'Washington' in her name, nor any middle name. Her name at birth was "Martha Jefferson", as noted in Thomas Jefferson's prayer book where he lists the names, births (and some deaths) of him, his wife and their children.
