Google gave me nearly 45.000 hits for "rahul peter das" (without other name forms). Is that enough for notability?Anuragi (talk) 14:41, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Anuragi. Prof. Das is one of the doyens of Modern South Asian Studies in Germany and also a board member of an important organisation of which the Indian PM is a founder-member. On my notability scale, that is very high. So the deletion request mystified me. Then I had a look at Gillyweed's profile and all was clear. The article is not Anglo related! Also, it was not loud, but toned down. Importance is seemingly given only if one shouts. Anyway, I suggest also having a look at the other language sites Anu mentioned. The request to delete this article on grounds of too little notability was itself deleted. Reasons: That this person is notable is evinced already by the fact that there is not only an English, but also a German and a Russian page on him; that would surely not be the case otherwise. As to missing references: the article is quite heavily referenced with links to various sites from which the person's biodata as well as his complete publications (many of them important in his field) can be seen, as well as pages to the various organs edited or coedited, which are all notable in their own right. I wonder very much who would be "notable" if this person is not. Anuragi (talk) 17:31, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
