Colour[edit]

"a unique lime green livery", they seem quite yellow to me —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.217.35 (talkcontribs)

From the pictures, yes. But they are a bright lime green colour in reality 80.42.156.97 (talk) 10:29, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
They are NOT bright lime green. You may have a defect in your retinal cone cells. They are without a doubt yellow, as one can see in the picture. Since when do digital photographs alter the color of the subject in such a way?
They look lime green to me. Digital cameras can alter the colour of a subject, they can't pick up the colour perfectly. And what computer screens show can also vary the colour. If they are yellow, then why is the timetable in lime green? Arriva436talk/contribs 16:52, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lime green, huh? Give it up. They're yellow. Anyone who has seen them personally can tell you that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.69.50.152 (talk) 18:06, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • This months Buses magazine calls it sulphur yellow, so I'm going with that. MickMacNee (talk) 22:38, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vehicle technology[edit]

The original buses were hybrid gas-turbine/electric vehicles, NOT diesel-electric hybrids. I made an earlier correction further down in the Vehicles section, but this error has now crept back in to the main article and side bar. For reference, the buses were made by Designline in New Zealand who have never made a diesel-electric hybrid.

Please could someone with the right permissions correct the page? It is semi-protected, so I cannot fix it myself. :-/ Clanger9 (talk) 17:22, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you provide references to support your assertion? --Bob Re-born (talk) 09:13, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hard to get a specific reference! My assertion that Designline never made a diesel hybrid is definitely incorrect - their early hybrids were in fact diesel. However, the Quaylinks were gas turbine. I can't find anything out there that says they were diesel. Some info here, it states that 2003-on buses were gas turbine (Quaylink buses were 2005-): http://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php?title=DesignLine_Corporation. Will see if I can find better evidence... Clanger9 (talk) 20:40, 22 April 2013 (UTC) Ah, just turned up a snippet here: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/eurotrams/message/27399 apparently, they're gas turbines running on diesel - hence the confusion. They are turbine-powered (I clearly remeber the strange noise they made - definitely not compression-ignition pistion engines!). It seems they were gas turbine vehicles converted to run on diesel fuel (gas turbines will burn almost anything flammable...) Clanger9 (talk) 20:53, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. Can you provide a reliable source to support your assertion? Unfortunately forums, wikis, etc just don't cut it as references. Is there a book, or magazine somewhere? Try Google Books perhaps? --Bob Re-born (talk) 20:59, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

July 2015[edit]

Done: -additions to reflect the changes coming in 2015 -additions to give sources/clarifications on the technology as requested above -added various other details I found in the process of the above

As the article was no longer locked down, I also took the opportunity to rearrange the whole text as a simple chronological run down. The previous format duplicated a lot of information while adding little benefit in my opinion. But feel free to change it back if you prefer - just don't remove the additions listed above in the process. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JoNamorn (talkcontribs) 05:57, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
