Number of Speakers=[edit]

Untitled[edit]

Fars province has approximately 2.5 million people, according to 2006 census. The number of Qashqais is significant, but as it is very apparent for any one who has visited Fars province, their number is not an overwhelming majority. If you go by the number given here, 60% of people in Fars are Qashqais. I don't believe this number is correct.

Generally speaking, Ethnologue has really messed up data. I contacted them several times, and they can not verify their numbers or sources. They just repeat the same generic answer:" We obtain our data from a variety of credible researchers across the globe." But it pretty much ends there. I suggest that we quote a more reliable source. mrjahan 5:56 PM, SET, Jan. 25, 2007.

Ostan-e Fars has a population of 4 385 869 (2005)
Qashqais also live in Esfahan province in large numbers. They are also in 4mahal B. and BA Kuhgaluye and Khuzestan. Their numbers in Fars is enormous. Their nomads and villagers are all across Fars from Abade to Firuz Abad, plus you should take into consideration that a rather large number of Shirazis are of Qashqai origins. All taken into account a number of 1.5 or 2 million Qashqais all over Iran is very plausible.

They have to! It's like saying you know Welsh but your in England and you don't know English. Who put citation needed on the last sentence?--78.151.53.200 (talk) 18:34, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Last Sentence[edit]

"The Qashqai also speak Persian, and use it as their literary language." It's irrelevant with the Qashqai language section. It must be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.171.129.17 (talk) 20:34, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
